Carbs are bad. Eat 6 meals a day. Don't eat after 8pm. The fitness industry is full of garbage advice. Let's clear it up.
I've been a certified nutrition coach for years, and I still hear the same myths recycled on social media every single week. Let's put them to rest.
Myth 1: Carbs make you fat. Carbohydrates are your body's preferred fuel source. Excess calories make you fat — not carbs specifically. The key is the type of carbs, the timing, and the total caloric context. For a deep dive on timing, read the complete guide to supplement stacking and nutrition timing.
Myth 2: You need to eat 6 small meals a day to "stoke your metabolism." Meal frequency has minimal impact on metabolic rate. What matters is total daily protein and caloric intake. Eat in a pattern that works for your schedule and keeps you consistent.
Myth 3: Don't eat after 8pm. Your body doesn't have a clock. Calories consumed at 9pm are the same as calories consumed at noon. Late-night eating is a problem when it leads to excess calories — not because of the time itself.
Myth 4: You need to be in a massive caloric deficit to lose fat. Aggressive deficits lead to muscle loss, metabolic adaptation, and rebound weight gain. A moderate deficit (300–500 calories below maintenance) with adequate protein is the sustainable approach. This is exactly why body recomposition beats simple weight loss every time.
Myth 5: Supplements replace real food. They don't. Supplements fill gaps — they don't replace a solid nutritional foundation. Get your food right first, then use supplements strategically to optimize. Start with the beginner Dotfit stack to understand what actually moves the needle.
